What is a natural remedy for a toothache?
There are a lot of remedies that are natural and can help with toothaches. My favorite one is salt water. Put a heaping tablespoon of salt in a glass of warm water. Swirl it inside your mouth.
Another one I swear by is clove. According to top10homeremedies.com, No home remedy for toothache can be better than clove. Clove has got anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial antioxidant and anesthetic properties that help in alleviating toothache to a great extent. At the first sign of toothache, dab some clove oil with the help of a cotton ball directly on the infected tooth to get some relief. You can even mix a few drops of clove oil in half a glass of water and use this solution to rinse your mouth. Else you can even grind some whole cloves and mix them with a few drops of cooking oil before applying it on the infected tooth. I used clove for a while when one of my teeth was aching and the pain dwindled away.
Next, there is garlic. Now I havent tried garlic for toothaches specifically, but top10homeremedies.com shares, Use of garlic can also give immense relief from toothache. Garlic has got antibiotic properties and other medicinal properties that can be very effective in slowing down bacterial affects. Simply crush a clove of garlic and add some rock salt and then apply it directly on the affected tooth to alleviate the pain. Instead of fresh garlic you can even use garlic powder. If possible, you can even chew one or two cloves of garlic to get relief from toothache. Repeat this natural treatment for a few days.
Speaking of spicy, there is also salt and pepper water as an option for dealing with toothaches: Salt mixed with pepper is also a great way to handle toothache at home. This remedy can be of great use when a tooth becomes extremely sensitive. Take pepper and common salt in equal amounts and mix them with a few drops of water to form a paste. Apply this paste directly on the affected tooth and allow it to sit for a few minutes. Repeat this process daily for several days to get relief from pain as well as dental cavities.
Another option is ice cubes. You can take an ice cube as a remedy for your toothaches. Take one small ice cube and put it in a plastic bag and then wrap it in a thin cotton cloth. Now apply this cloth on the cheek over the aching tooth for about a few minutes to numb the nerves. When ice is placed directly on an affected tooth it can also ease the pain. You can also rub an ice cube in the area between the index finger and the thumb for a few minutes. It is a kind of acupressure technique that can ease toothache.
It is important to remember that these are temporary fixes and you need to see a doctor for the pain.
